About the Kitchener
Improvement District (KID)
The Kitchener Improvement District (KID) is a local government entity in British Columbia, responsible for providing water distribution services to approximately 70 properties within its geographic area. Unlike other improvement districts that may offer multiple services like sewage, fire protection, and street lighting, KID focuses solely on managing and distributing safe drinking water.
Services Provided
The KID provides water distribution services to the residents and properties within its boundaries. We are committed to ensuring a reliable supply of clean, safe water to all connected households and businesses.
Governance
The KID is governed by a board of five dedicated volunteer trustees, who are elected by the landowners of the district. These volunteers contribute hundreds of hours of their time each year to manage the district’s operations and ensure the smooth provision of water services. The board is responsible for decision-making around water distribution, system maintenance, and overall management.
Funding
KID is entirely funded through water tolls collected from the properties we serve. Unlike other improvement districts, KID does not receive any funding through taxes. The water tolls cover the costs of system maintenance, upgrades, and overall operations, ensuring that the district remains financially sustainable while delivering essential water services to the community.

K.I.D Board of Directors
The Kitchener Improvement District board is compromised of 5 volunteers that help upkeep and maintain the system.
