Dear residents and community members,
We're pleased to announce that the issues located between the highway and Kitchener Road have now been resolved. As many of you are aware, the district identified two faulty joiners in a pipe that should never have been utilized as a primary line, and is actually a form of irrigation pipe.
We wish to extend our deepest gratitude for your patience and understanding during this period. Your support enabled us to promptly address the issues. The temporary solutions we employed a few weeks ago have now been replaced with permanent parts. With these improvements in place, we're confident that the pressure problems which many of you reported will no longer persist.
This incident, however, has brought to light a larger concern regarding the overall state of our current distribution system. The type of pipe buried in this area is, in fact, irrigation pipe. Characterized by its thin walls, its joiners are even more fragile. Over time, the cycle of expansion, contraction, and ground movement has taken a toll on these pipes and joiners. This is evident from the three leaks we've encountered over the past four years.
Given this revelation, we recognize now more then ever, the urgent need to upgrade our infrastructure. Investing in a more robust system will not only address the immediate challenges but will also ensure that Kitchener is well prepared for the future.
Thank you again for your patience, it is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely, the Board of the Kitchener Improvement District
